Terms of Service
Last updated: July 15, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using the KidsCanCode platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
KidsCanCode provides coding education services for children ages 6–16. By registering, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child profile(s) you create, or a school administrator authorized to manage student accounts. You must agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service by checking the consent checkbox during registration before your account can be created.
2. Description of Service
KidsCanCode is an interactive, AI-driven learning platform that teaches children real programming skills in Python and JavaScript through hands-on, project-based coding. The Service includes:
- A split-screen code editor with live preview
- An AI-powered coding companion for hints, bug explanations, and guided project milestones
- Gamification features including XP points, levels, badges, streaks, and leaderboards
- Personal portfolio pages for showcasing completed projects
- Parent and school dashboards for progress monitoring
- Classroom management tools including join codes, student moderation (ban/restore/remove), and challenge assignments for school accounts
- Subscription management with upgrade, downgrade, and cancellation options
- A "Bring to My School" feature allowing family accounts to convert to school accounts
- License key activation for pre-paid school plans
- A comprehensive FAQ section and support system with ticket submissions and live chat
3. Account Types & Registration
KidsCanCode offers two account types:
- Family Account: Registered by a parent or legal guardian. Family registration requires a full name, email, and password.
- School Account: Registered by a teacher or school administrator. School registration requires a school name, school location (city, country), teacher or administrator name, school email, and password.
Authentication is handled exclusively through email and password. Third-party social login (e.g., Google SSO) is not available.
Children do not create their own accounts. All child profiles are managed under a parent or school account. Children access their profiles using magic animal passcodes or direct profile links — no email address is required for child login. You may create up to five (5) child profiles under the Family Sandbox plan (the Solo Programmer plan includes one child profile). School plan seat limits are determined by your subscription or license key.
4. Subscription Plans & Billing
We offer subscription plans for both families and schools, each available with monthly or yearly billing:
- Solo Programmer Plan (Family): For a single child learner — $15/month or $144/year ($12/month billed yearly)
- Family Sandbox Plan (Family): Includes up to 5 child profiles — $29/month or $288/year ($24/month billed yearly)
- Classroom License Plan (School): 1 teacher plus up to 20 student seats — $79/month or $780/year ($65/month billed yearly)
- Department Pack Plan (School): Up to 3 teachers plus 120 student seats — $199/month or $1,908/year ($159/month billed yearly)
- Custom Plan (School): Tailored for districts or large institutions — contact us for pricing
3-Day Free Trial: Every new family or school account starts with a 3-day free trial. Full IDE access is enabled during the trial period. No credit card is required to start a trial. After the trial expires, access to the coding environment is restricted until a subscription is activated.
License Keys: Schools may activate a pre-paid plan using a license key provided by their school district or IT department. License keys are validated and linked to the account upon activation, determining the plan tier and seat count.
Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or yearly) unless cancelled. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings.
Expiration Notifications: We send automated email reminders before trial and subscription expiration dates. Expiration banners are also displayed on parent and school dashboards to ensure users are informed in advance.
Refunds: If you are not satisfied with the Service, you may request a refund within 7 days of a new billing cycle by contacting our support team.
5. Classroom Management & Student Moderation
School accounts include classroom management tools that allow school administrators to:
- Create classrooms and generate join codes for student self-onboarding
- Assign coding projects as classroom challenges with due dates
- Monitor student progress, code submissions, and completion rates
- Moderate student access by banning, restoring, or removing student profiles from classrooms
- Distribute join codes to students for self-registration without requiring email addresses
School administrators are responsible for managing classroom membership and ensuring that students use the platform appropriately.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You will not:
- Harass, bully, or intimidate other users, including students in your classroom
- Share account credentials or allow unauthorized access to classroom or family accounts
- Post or submit inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content through code, reflections, or chat
- Attempt to disrupt, hack, or reverse-engineer the platform
- Misuse the AI coding companion to generate harmful or inappropriate content
- Use the Service for commercial purposes without authorization
7. Intellectual Property
The KidsCanCode platform, including its design, content, curriculum, and software, is owned by KidsCanCode and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our materials without permission.
Code and projects created by children using the Service remain the intellectual property of the child (and their parent/guardian). By publishing a project to the portfolio, you grant KidsCanCode a limited license to display it within the platform.
8. Privacy & Data
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information, including school location data, child profile data, and AI coding companion interactions. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Educational outcomes are not guaranteed and depend on individual effort and engagement. AI-generated hints and explanations may occasionally contain inaccuracies and should be reviewed accordingly.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, KidsCanCode shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid in the preceding 12 months.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in harmful activity. School administrators may also ban or remove students from their classrooms. Upon termination, your data will be removed in accordance with our data retention policy.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by email or through the Service. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Contact
If you have questions about these Terms, please contact our support team through the KidsCanCode platform or via the "Talk to A Human" support option.
