Account Information: Parent full name, school email address, and password (encrypted). For school accounts, we also collect the school name, school location (city, country), and the name of the teacher or school administrator registering the account.

Child Profile Data: Child's name (first name or nickname), age, avatar selection, and progress data including projects completed, code written, XP earned, badges achieved, streak days, and reflection notes.

Authentication Data: Email and password for parent and school accounts. Children do not use email or passwords — they access their profiles using a magic animal passcode sequence or a direct profile link.

Subscription & Billing Data: Plan tier, billing cycle, subscription status, trial start date, and cancellation reasons. School accounts may also submit license key codes for plan activation.

Usage Data: How the Service is accessed and used, including device type, browser, session duration, and feature interactions.

Communication Data: Responses to surveys, support tickets, live chat transcripts, and project reflections submitted by children.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and personalize the educational coding experience, including AI-powered hints and guided project milestones
• Track and report on child progress to parents and school administrators
• Send automated email notifications, including project completion summaries to parents and trial/subscription expiration reminders
• Display expiration banners on parent and school dashboards to inform users of upcoming trial or subscription end dates
• Manage classroom onboarding via join codes and student self-registration without requiring student email addresses
• Process license key activation and validate seat allocations for school accounts
• Enable the "Bring to My School" feature for family accounts wishing to convert to a school account
• Provide customer support through ticket submissions and live chat
• Improve our curriculum, features, and platform performance
• Ensure platform security and prevent misuse

We do not use children's personal information for targeted advertising or sell data to third parties.

Our platform includes an AI-powered coding companion that provides hints, bug explanations, and guided project milestones. When a child interacts with the AI assistant, the following data may be processed:

• The child's code submissions within the coding environment
• Questions or prompts the child enters into the AI chat
• Project step progress and completion status

This data is used solely to generate contextual learning assistance and is not stored permanently beyond the child's project session unless saved as part of their progress data. AI interactions are not used to train external models.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data with:

• Service Providers: Trusted third parties who help us operate the platform (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery), bound by confidentiality obligations
• Schools & School Administrators: Progress data for students within their classroom, including ban/restore moderation status, as part of the School plan
• Legal Authorities: When required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption of passwords, secure data transmission (SSL/TLS), and restricted internal access. Authentication is handled exclusively through email and password — we do not offer third-party social login (e.g., Google SSO). However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

KidsCanCode is designed for children ages 6–16 and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Key protections include:

• Parental or school administrator consent is required before creating a child profile
• We collect only the minimum information needed to provide the educational Service
• Children do not create independent accounts or provide personal data such as email addresses — they log in using magic animal passcodes or direct profile links provided by their parent or teacher
• We do not conduct behavioral advertising targeted at children
• Parents and school administrators can review, update, or delete child profile data at any time
• School administrators have moderation tools to ban, restore, or remove student profiles from their classrooms

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and keep you logged in. We may also use analytics tools to understand how the platform is used and to improve our Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect functionality.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you or your child
• Correct inaccurate or outdated information
• Delete your account and associated data
• Opt out of marketing communications
• Withdraw consent for data processing

We retain account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Code and projects created by children using the Service remain the intellectual property of the child (and their parent/guardian), and may be retained in anonymized form for educational research purposes.

We send automated emails to registered users for the following purposes:

• Project completion notifications to parents when a child finishes a project
• Trial expiration reminders before the 3-day free trial ends
• Subscription expiration or renewal reminders
• Email verification codes during registration
• Support ticket responses and live chat follow-ups

You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time from your account settings.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by email or through the Service. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
